Ode To Spring

Walter Wickiser Gallery is pleased to announce Ode To Spring, a group show featuring Sarbani Ghosh, David Hansen and Masaya Nakayama. The 3 artists explore the idea of spring and reviving with different materials: natural pigments on mashi paper; oil on canvas; or watercolor with collage. Together they celebrate the joyfulness of the coming season in the contexts of their varying cultural backgrounds and personal histories. 

From Prague Spring to Arab Spring, the idea of such a season aside from the climate condition per se, always represents the burgeoning hope of not only natural but also socio-political environment. It is crucial at the present time to call for the strength to reserve the cultural pluralism we have, and to eventually break through the frozen soil in the seemingly endless winter. A landscape, after all, could be a powerful symbol in a gentle from.
